VICE PRESIDENT

Melissa graduated from Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute in 1999 and cherishes her time at the school. Melissa finds it to be a privilege and honour to be able to give back to the school that gave her fond memories and the foundation on which her career is based – it was through the school’s co-op program that she discovered that she wanted to be a lawyer!

Melissa is Associate General Counsel at BentallGreenOak (Canada) Limited Partnership. and is responsible for supporting the legal needs of this global company. Before BentallGreenOak, she was Senior Legal Counsel at Gordon Food Service where she headed and managed the legal needs of the company’s Canadian operations. Prior to her time in-house, she was an associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.

Outside of work, Melissa enjoys volunteering her time and was part of the executive team that organized the largest South Asian arts & entertainment festival outside South Asia, called Masala! Mehndi! Masti! and has been a “big sister” and sighted friend. She currently sits on the board of the South Asian Bar Association and Girls’ E-Mentorship (GEM) (an organization that launched its pilot mentorship program at Marc Garneau).

“Giving my time to the Alumni Association is a meaningful and impactful way for me to make a difference in the life of a future graduate – this is especially critical now that the community that the school supports has been especially hard hit by the impacts of Covid.” – Melissa
